GOOGLE FOR EDUCATION

Hello and welcome to my blog!
Today we are going to talk about useful Google services for education.

Most of the services are presented in the form of web applications, which can be used with an Internet connection and a web browser only. Thus, it is possible to access your data without being tied to one device, from anywhere in the world.

I think most of you are familiar with some of the Google tools. It is difficult to find an Internet user who has never used Google search or watched Youtube videos. But it seems to me that not everyone knows that Google also offers a large number of other tools that can be effectively used in learning. They are all free, reliable, and easy to use.

Google Drive is a data warehouse where you can place text, images, photos, audio, video, presentations, and so on. If you use Google Drive as part of Google Apps for Education, then you will not have restrictions on the amount of stored files, which is quite convenient, since you do not need to worry about the Drive becoming full or deleting old files. Google Drive also contains a number of useful applications that let you create and save various types of files.

Google Docs. This application allows you to create and edit text documents. This text editor is very similar to the well-known Word, but at the same time it has a number of advantages, such as sharing, commenting, the ability to insert various elements and a large selection of add-ons to optimize your work and save time.

Google Sheets. Sheets are similar to Excel, but have some of the same pluses as Google Docs.

Google Forms. Allows you to quickly create surveys and collect data.

Google Slides. This application can be seen as an alternative to PowerPoint, but there are fewer editing options.

Google Drawings. Allows you to create diagrams, diagrams and other types of images.

Google Apps for Education also includes the following tools:

Gmail. User-friendly interface, contact and task management.

Google Calendar. Scheduling, calendar and appointments.

Google Hangouts. An application for video conferencing and instant messaging.

Google Sites - to create and publish web pages.

You can use Gmail, Google Hangouts and Google Calendar even if you don't have Google Apps for Education, and Google Sites is available only as part of Google Apps for Education or Google Apps for Work.

And the cherry on the cake - Google Classroom. The service synchronizes Google Docs, Google Drive and Gmail. Teacher can organize project work, distance learning, flipped classroom.

All of these services seem simple, but their strength lies in their simplicity and integration with each other. You can create a short presentation using Google Slides, work at a lesson using Google Forms and Google Sheets, give homework using Google Forms, set a due date on a Google calendar, and set up notifications so that all students are reminded to do their homework. work. Free Google Services is a great start for teachers who want to use edtech services in their classroom, but the school's information infrastructure does not allow it. Personal accounts are enough to work with Google services, which means that the first steps can be done quite independently.
